The Ileap Telugu Typing Software is an excellent program for students of Telugu who are learning the script. It is a software program, rather than a website, so it runs directly on your Windows or Mac laptop or desktop computer. If you are new to this type of program, but have used other language typing software before, then this guide will help you get started! It's hard to believe that it's been twenty years since the first version of Ileap was released back in 1998! Today’s version is vastly improved and offers many features never seen before in any other typing software. In these lessons, you will learn about the program from top to bottom. I'll show you what all the buttons and text boxes do, how to use them, and why they are important. Other lessons provide practice exercises for you to read and write Telugu script. To get started, download the software from this page: https://ileap.com/downloads/ileap-full-version/ After downloading it, unzip the file onto your desktop or other easy-to-find location on your computer. Then run the Ileap application by double-clicking on its icon (see image below). The first time you open Ileap, there is a lot of information on the screen. Don't panic. In this article, we'll go through all the windows and options one by one. Let's start with the main window: After opening Ileap for the first time, you will see a white Telugu script on a black background in its native orientation (horizontal). This is for display purposes only and cannot be changed. The script fills up most of the window, leaving some room for toolbars, menus, and dialog boxes. The first thing we want to do is type some basic characters so we know how it works. Ileap displays all the basic letters of the Telugu script on this screen. The letters are called "Strokes" and you need to use them correctly to type correctly. The following lessons will help you learn more about each of these letters, as well as how they are used in words and phrases. The little white cursor jumps to the next letter in the word. There are five steps in the process of typing a word: 1. Selecting a letter 2. Holding that letter 3.
